Verona
There is no world outside these walls...
Shakespeare expresses the impression that strikes the tourist when he enters the ancient walls that surround the city. The tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet, which the poet set inVerona , makes the city the favorite destination of hearts in love and excited tourists.
Piazza Brà and the Arena
Right at the entrance to the city, crossing the Portoni della Brà, you find two round arches superimposed by a clock: you will arrive in front of the Arena. The Roman amphitheater will leave you speechless.
Piazza delle Erbe
Crossing Via Mazzini, the shopping street, you will arrive at Piazza delle Erbe, which in the past was the Roman Forum. From a height of 84 m there is the Torre dei Lamperti (from which you can enjoy the most beautiful panorama of Verona). In the center of the square stands a very ancient fountain, nicknamed Madonna Verona.
Casa di Giulietta
Very close to Piazza delle Erbe there is Juliet's house, with the well-known balcony. Shakespeare's tragedy combined reality and fantasy, but few know that the Montecchi and Capuleti families really existed in Verona. The inside of the courtyard is characterized by symbols of love such as writings, padlocks, letters to Juliet left by many lovers. A custom says that it brings good luck to touch a breast of the statue of Juliet.
Piazza dei Signori
To enter Piazza dei Signori you will have to cross the Arco della Costa, from which hangs a whale rib, dating back to at least the 17th century.
