Lonato, San Martino, Peschiera, Sirmione
Tour
Rocca di Lonato
The first stop is at Rocca di Lonato : the castle stands on the top of one of the hills of the Morainic amphitheater. Then you can continue towards Desenzano to visit the small town of San Martino della Battaglia, with its tower and ossuary chapel.
Book in advance (we can do it for you) a visit with tasting at the nearby Podere Selva Capuzza winery Enjoy an excellent "local" lunch with typical specialties and, on the advice of the Chef and Sommelier, try to combine the dishes with the wines, on the contrary of what usually happens!
Sanctuary of the Madonna del Frassino in Peschiera
The first visit after lunch is to the Madonna del Frassino Sanctuary in Peschiera: the visit is rather fast, it takes little time. We also recommend going to Forte Ardietti, on the border between Peschiera and Ponti sul Mincio: an Austrian fort, built in the years 1856/1861, the only one still intact among those placed to defend Lake Garda.
Sirmione
Go then to Sirmione, for a walk in the Scaliger Castle, one of the best preserved in Italy. The entire historical center develops inside it. From here move to the Grotte di Catullo, where you can admire the remains of a Roman Villa as well as a wonderful landscape.
Now you just have to end the day with a nice dinner just outside the center, at the Trattoria Clementina !
